Current week
Just surfed for the first time in a while, it certainly feels good to reconnect your body to nature. The rest of the German Glamour shoot went well. The Topanaga location was fantastic/ The location was the Mermaid a 1920's Mission style estate, the Mermaid was a brothel in the 30's, a hidden gay night club in the 50's, and in the free loving period of the 60's through the 70's a concert hall and art venue. It was purchased by a sweet man name Bill in 89' for 650,000, it is now worth an outrageous amount, but Bill is not letting it go, he runs a committee that restores the classic Topagna homes, when I arrived early in the morning I caught him still in his pajamas, something about seeing a man in his pajamas definitely breaks the ice into becoming good buddies. I loved that home, the living room could easily fit a 1200 square foot home inside it, the fireplace was bigger than my SUV, and every detail of the house was thoughtfully placed, you can feel the soul and almost see the stories on the wall, the flora and fauna of the grounds were spectacular, I adore mission style homes there is something spiritual about their presence. The day before our shoot they were shooting Gloria Estefan there, Estefan's haired was chopped off against her will and according to Bill she screamed, cried and threw objects. Our shoot went great, amazing photographs and quickly the day ended, the drive that evening from Topanaga to West Hollywood was the smoothest and easist ride considering it was a friday afternoon on the 101, not once did I even realize it was Friday the 13th, it was such a good day, I said my farewells to the Germans who had become friends, and drove off on Sunset Blvd feeling so content. I ended the night meeting my buddies Loren, Corey and Todd for beers. Saturday was my best friend's husbands birthday. Randy turned 30 and Berenice threw an awesome surprise party: good people, good sushi, and lots of dancing. Cheers to birthday celebrations
